Lurgan
live to fight again In a wet and mucky Brefni Park Lurgan showed their depth of character by fighting back from a four-point deficit late in the second half to draw this Division 1 Minor Championship Final on Sunday last 3rd October 2004. Played as a curtain raiser for the Senior Final it was nice to see the tradition of allowing the premium young guns in the county play before the seniors on such a major occasion. The first half was played tough and tight with Lurgan fairing best as shown by the half-time score-line of Lurgan 0.4 Cavan Gaels 0.2. The second half began with The Gaels showing a lot more urgency. They scored freely and a superb goal by Martin Dunne put them in command mid-way through the half. Lurgan showed the spirit that is in this team by putting in a brilliant final quarter reeling back the Gael's built-up lead. A pointed effort by team captain Anton Reilly and a major strike on goal by centre-half forward Daniel Nolan on the final whistle levelled the match. Lurgan were delighted
at the final whistle whereas The Gaels looked shattered. Lurgan: S Mulvaney; D Lynch; E Daly; M Reilly; J Hopkins; A Brady; S Gafney; L Mulvey; A Reilly; S Sheridan; D Nolan; M Rock; M Keating; S Monaghan; D Farrelly; Subs; R McKeown; J Lynch. Referee; Martin
Brady (Ballinagh)
