Lurgan
Are Under 16 Division 1 Champions of Cavan
The first half was competitive enough with man-of-the-match Stephen Monaghan carving open the Bailieboro defence with three quick points. Bailieboro responded with two from Mark Smith. Raymond Farrelly put some light between the sides with a well-taken goal. The half time score-line read Lurgan 1.8 Bailieboro 0.5. The second half was all Lurgan. Six goals, one a spectacular from their inspirational captain James Lynch overwhelmed the hard pressed Bailieboro defence. In contrast the Lurgan defence spearheaded by club minor Michael O'Reilly at centre-half back seemed at ease with their task. In fairness to Bailieboro they never gave up and their best player on the day Killian Sheridan managed a consolation goal in the final quarter. Lurgan ran up the huge tally of 6.05 in the second half to win the title on the score-line of Lurgan 7.13 to Bailieboro 1.06. The day belonged to Lurgan who made no mistake in their preparations for this final. Congratulations to Manager Sean Lynch and selectors James Cole Lurcan Farrelly and John Mulvanney.
