Denn Continue draw sequence

Denn 0-12 ………. Ramor United 1-9

This match between Ramor and Denn took place in Crosskeys, it was a re-arranged match as the original fixture had been postponed due to a breaavement in the Denn club.

It was Ramor who dominated the early exchanges and were in control in most areas. Maurice Murphy was particulary prominent and scored two long range points. This period of dominance led to Ramor going into a five point lead after fifteen minutes. Eventually Denn began to get a grip at midfield and Pauric McGovern brought them right into the game with two points from midfield. This was followed by a point from Hubert Smith and two points from frees by John Smith to bring Denn level after twenty-five minutes.

Denn were completely dominant at this stage and were denied a goal in the dying seconds of the half with a brilliant double save by Francie Conway in the Ramor goals. On the stroke of half time John Smith put Denn into the lead with a free

Denn started the second half as they finished the first, and went further ahead with points from R.Kiernan and J.Kiernan. Ramor responded with a point from Dereck McDonnell to cut the Denn lead to two points.

With the game very tight, the exchanges were tough and uncompromising, but both sides continued to play good football Denn stretched their lead to four points, and appeared to be heading for victory in the last five minutes. Francie Conway made a second spectacular double save to deny Fergal Brady and then Jerome Kiernan, which would have given Denn a certain victory.

This save seemed to inspire Ramor, and in the next attack, a Dereck McDonnell fisted effort rebounded off the crossbar and was scrambled over the line for a goal for Ramor, to bring them within a point of Denn. They were back on level terms a minute later, following a Keith Soden free. In the final minutes, Denn tried everything to get the winning score, but Ramor defended stoutly.
