Coalisland victorious in Ramor Park

Coalisland 4.14 Ramor United 0.7

A depleted Ramor side (minus their county hurlers and footballers) suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of a fit strong Coalisland outfit in this opening South Ulster League match in Virginia. The game was played in a windy and cold setting with a strong Lough Ramor gale blowing.

The first half was even enough. Three points by Ramor's Peter Monaghan and a couple more good scores meant that the half-time score-line read Ramor 0.5 Coalisland 1.6. The visitors goal was a blasting shot from right full forward P Kane.

The superior fitness of Coalisland showed in the second half and really Ramor had no answer to them. A brace of goals from Gerard Toner in this half killed off any chance of a Ramor revival.
