Ramor Utd.'s Strong Finish
Ramor Utd. 0-11 Ballinagh 1-05
With both Ramor United
and Ballinagh fighting for promotion to division one next season there
was no lack of enthusiasm in the contest. A large attendance witnessed
an exciting and hard-fought encounter.
In the opening half both sets of defenders were on top. Space was hard
to find and at the interval Ramor United had three points scored by John
Brady, Paddy Brennan and philip Fitzsimons respectively as against Ballinagh's
two points from frees by Declan Beard.
Ballinagh started
the second half brightly with points from D.Galligan and Declan Beard.
A save from Ramor United goalkeeper Francie Conway fell into the path
of incoming corner foward Alan Durkin in the 37th minute and the Ballinagh
youngster cracked it into the Ramor net. The visitors now had a four point
advantage.
Ramor were boosted in attack at this stage with subs Keith Soden and Aoghan
Cahill. A period of midfield dominance by David McDonnell and Ogie Farrelly
led to pressure on the Ballinagh defence. The Ramor fowards were now moving
much better and in the last quarter they scored eight points unanswered.
the scorers were Keith Soden - two points, and points from Barry Fitzsimons,
Aoghan Cahill, Paddy McNamee, Ray Cole, Dara Sheridan and John Brady.
Paul Galligan the Ballinagh center-half foward scored a point in injury
time to reduce the leeway.
