Cavan A.C.F.L. ; Ramor Utd v Lavey, 17-07'10.

Ramor, fresh from their victory over Denn on Wednesday last were very eager to continue their winning ways as they had home advantage against neighbours Lavey. The home-side almost pulled it off, but for a missed penalty in the 28th minute and a couple of costly mistakes in the back-line. Lavey for their part, were guilty of a number of wides and wasted chances, and all in all, it made for a very pedestrian game. Aodghan Cahill opened Ramor's account with a point from play in the second minute , and this was quickly followed by a point each from Darren Jordan and Christopher Conroy. Both sides exchanged wides before Jack Brady and Adrian Cole pointed from play in quick succession. Conroy converted a free for a foul on himself in the 16th minute, and the next score didn't happen until the 22nd minute when Ronan Keating pointed after good work by James Mc Enroe. Scores from Fionnbarr Jordan, Darren Jordan and Keith Soden concluded the first half and left the sides all square on 5 points each.

Paul Tierney replaced Aaron Smith on the Lavey team at the start of the second half. In the second minute of play, Sean Maguire, operating at mid-field kicked a high ball in to Paul Tierney who broke it out to the in-rushing Darren Jordan, and he rolled it past Mattie Mc Weeney into the Ramor net. Minutes later Adrian Cole was in one on one with the Lavey keeper, but the ensuing shot narrowly skimmed the crossbar for a point. Lavey replied with a point from David Walsh after some very hard work by the half forward line. Lavey now led by a goal with eight minutes played and were dominating proceedings. In the 10th minute, Ramor mid-fielder Stephen Monaghan lobbed a high ball into Adrian Cole who broke it down for Jack Brady and the latter rounded his marker and blasted low to the far corner of the Lavey net. Game on for Ramor. Lavey had a chance to go ahead but Christopher Conroy shot wide in the 12 minute, however,Darren Jordan capitilised a minute later on loose play by Ramor with a good point. Ramor had a wide before Darren Jordan was neatly through in the 15th minute with a fisted point to put his side two ahead. Jack Brady pointed in the 17th minute after good work by Gareth Daly and Adrian Cole. Both sides made a number of substitutions and it wasn't until the 22nd minute that another score came, this time a free by young Jack Brady and the sides were level yet again.
Drama ensued in the 25th minute as a kick pass went badly astray for Ramor and Darren Jordan and Christopher Conroy were left inside , and the duo combined quickly to allow Conroys rasping shot rattle the Ramor net. Three up again for Lavey and Ramor battled frantically, kicking in high ball to the forward line. Aogdhan Cahill clawed at the lead with a good point from play in the 27th minute. Adrian Cole was brought down for a penalty moments later but the opportunity was lost as Aodghan Cahill's shot went wide of the post and Lavey were out of jail. Whatever excitement the game lacked throughout was atoned for in the last few minutes as Ramor piled on the pressure. Eventually James Mc Enroe grabbed a point in the 29th minute, and then Lavey recorded a wide. The final whistle sounded as the ball was being kicked out and Lavey emerged winners by a single point.
