Minor League; Ramor Utd 1-16 .St Finbarrs. 1-7.

This game was played in Ramor Park on Saturday last due to the fact that the Kill venue was deemed unplayable.

Ramor had qualified for a semi final position having won all of their games to date, while St Finbarrs needed to win to qualify.

Ramor started off brightly and registered their first score from play in the 6th minute with a Jack Brady point. Simon Cadden added another to Ramor’s tally after good play from Adam O’Connell and Christopher Sheils. Brady and Cadden were on song again in the 12th and 16th minute giving Ramor a four point lead. Paul Hueston , Liam Kane and Killian Brady recorded wides for St. Finbarrs before Adam O’ Connell added a point from play for Ramor. A long ball in from Simon Cadden was fielded by Jack Brady whose rasping shot was well saved by keeper John Cassidy and the rebound was drilled to the net by Alan Treacey to give Ramor a commanding eight point lead.

A minute later, St. Finbarrs registered their first score in the guise of a point from play from Killian Brady. St. Finbarrs started a period of domination, but failed to score as their tally of wides increased. The last score of the half was a Jack Brady point to leave a half-time score of 1-6 to 0-1 in favour of Ramor.

The second half started off with St. Finbarrs on the attack, but they failed to capitalise. Ramor;s account was opened by Jack Brady with a point from play.St. Finbarrs responded with a pointed free from Anthony Brady. Simon Cadden and Kevin Mulvanny combined to set Christopher Sheils up for a point .Anthony Brady replied with a free after a foul on Paul Hueston in the 10th minute. Killian Brady reduced the deficit for the visitors with a good point from play .A good interception by Simon Cadden enabled Kevin Cole to point in the 15th minute .Stephen Fay and Ian Middleton each got a point from play during a good spell for St. Finbarrs. Ramor’s Jack Brady pointed in the 18th minute. A defensive mistake by Ramor allowed Darren Tierney in for a goal to reduce the arrears to four, giving hope to the visitors. A minute later the same player raised the white flag, leaving a dangerous three points between the sides. This seemed to waken Ramor up, and points from Arann Farrelly, Christopher Sheils, Adam O’Connell, Kevin Mulvanny and two from Jack Brady put Ramor firmly back in control and they ran out winners on a score-line of 1-16 to 1-7.
