Ramor 4-11. Shercock 3-9.

Ramor entertained Shercock on Saturday last in Virginia in the first round of the Division 5 League, and in truth ran out easy enough winners despite a shaky start.

Shercock started off in flying form with a point from Shane Mc Phillips, and by the 11th minutes were four points clear after a well taken Declan Mc Intyre goal, who was set up by Noel Carroll. This prompted Ramor into action and a well taken Philip Kermath point opened their account. Two minutes later Mark O’Dwyer had the ball nestaling in the back of the Shercock net after a great pass from Paddy Brennan. Philip Kermath, Paddy Brennan and Keith Soden all pointed to put Ramor three clear. Noel Carroll responded for Shercock in the 20th minute with a pointed free.Ramor replied with a Doanl Farrelly goal, after great work by Philip Kermath.Declan Mc Inytre found the back of the Ramor net in the 28th minute to reduce the deficit to three. Half time score; Ramor 2-5, Shercock 2-2.

The second half began with Shercock bringing on Francis Byrne and Daniel Clarke for Dwayne Eakins and Francis Mc Phillips. Ramor were first to the scoreboard with a Mark O’Dwyer point, and subsequently Ramor were awarded a penalty when Paul Quealy was brought down in the square. Keith Soden made no mistake converting from the spot.Noel Carroll then replied for the visitors with a well taken point. Mark O’Dwyer got his second point of the half with another following from the boot of Shane Gaffney. Noel Carroll pointed a free for Shercock . Ramor introduced Donagh Courtney for Barry Balfe. In the 12th minute Donal Farrelly scored a goal for Ramor, and Ramor brought on Ogie Farrelly for Killian Courtney, and James Lynch for Paddy Brennan, while Shercock substituted Jody Clarke for Daniel Clarke.

Joseph O’Reilly Jnr scored a point for Shercock and Joe Hopkins and Francis Byrne exchanged scores to leave Ramor nine points up with 10 minutes remaining. Keith Soden pointed a free and Noel Carroll did the same for Shercock. Joseph O’Reilly Jnr added another point for his side and Noel Carroll was on form with a well taken goal. Paul Quealy had the last say with a good point on the stroke full time to leave the final score ; Ramor 4-11, Shercock 3-8.
