Cavan A.C.F.L. Div 1; Ramor Utd V Gowna.

Ramor entertained Gowna in their 10th game of the Div 1 League on Saturday evening last in Virginia. This was Ramor's second game of the week, having drawn with Killygarry on the previous Wednesday evening.

Ramor started the brighter of the two, with a fine point from Paul Quealy after good interplay from Shane Cole and Paddy Mc Namee. Gowna replied emphatically with a well taken Niall Madden goal three minutes into the game. This was quickly followed by a point from Raymond Keogh a minute later. Ramor responded with a point from Paddy Mc Namee, who slotted over from an acute  angle. Adrian Cole was on target a minute later after receiving a great pass from Ronan Keating.

Christopher Madden found David Hyland in space who duly turned and pointed for Gowna in the 7th minute.Ramor's Shane Cole sustained an injury and was replaced by Philip Fitzsimons. Fitzsimons made an immediate impact with a point from play and a moment later, after Ado Cole's shot at goal was blocked by keeper Ronan Bannon, Fitzsimons added another point to his tally.

Ciaran Brady Jnr. put Gowna back in front in the 15th minute with a free. Ramor replied with a free from Jack Brady to level matters once again. Three consecutive points followed for Ramor, from Ronan Keating, Ado Cole and Paddy Mc Namee. However, Ciaran Brady Jnr.
clawed back at Ramor's lead with a well taken free from tyhe 45m line.

With just two minutes of the half remaining the decisive score of the game came when Ronan Keating won possession and laid it off to Paddy Mc Namee who crashed to the net, thereby giving Ramor a five point lead on a half time score of  1-9 to 1-4.

Donal Farrelly replaced the injured Philip Fitzsimons at the start of the half for Ramor. Both sides recorded a number of wides and it took until the 9th minute for a score to register. Gowna's Shane Briody had a certain goal chance, but the shot rose and went over the bar. Ramor replied with a point from Jack Brady in the 13th minute. William Stephens was replaced by Gerald Pierson, and he wsa only two minutes on the field when he converted a free from the 45m line. Pierson was on song  a minute later with a point from play to leave three between the sides with 15 minutes remaining. Ramor gained another point when Ado Cole linked up well with Paddy Mc Namee and the latter shot a point from a  near impossible angle. Barry Fitzsimons replaced Ray Cole for Ramor and Bernard Sorohan replaced Gearoid O'Reilly on the Gowna side.

In the 25th minute David Hyland struck over the bar after good work by Fergal Harten. Ado Cole then notched up two consecutive points from play for Ramor,before Gerald Pierson slotted over his second 45m free.

This was to be the last score of the game, with Ramor taking the points on a final scoreline of 1-13 to 1-09.

Ramor's next game will be their Championship clash with neighbours Cuchulainns on Sunday next in Kingscourt at 3pm. Gowna will face Castlerahan in their next Championship game.
