Shercock 1-11

Ramor entertained Shercock at Ramor Park on Saturday evening last. The game was played in wet , but calm conditions.

Ramor started well with points from Paul Quealy and a Stephen Monaghan free.A few minutes later, Paddy Dunne collected a ball and laid it off to the in-rushing Donal Farrelly who made no mistake slotting the ball to the corner of the net.

A Shane Gaffney point a minute later and another Stephen Monaghan free put Ramor well ahead.

Moments later, Shane Gaffney appeared to be unstoppable as he pointed from long range and then followed this up with a goal! In the 23rd minute a point from wing back Joe Hopkins and then a Stephen Monaghan free added to Shercock’s woes.

Just on the brink of half time Donal Farrelly scored his second and Ramors third goal.From the kick out, Philip Fitzsimons collected and pointed. Shercock , in a rare appearance in Ramors half scored their first point of the game in the guise of corner forward Francis Mc Phillips. Half time score; Ramor 3-8, Shercock 0-1.

Second Half;

This was to be the proverbial game of two halves as Shercock notched up 1-10 to Ramors 2 points!

Ramor made a number of changes at half time, with Liam O’Reilly replacing Ray Cole, Mark O’Dwyer replaced Paddy Dunne, Shane O’Reilly in for Paul Quealy. Shercock replaced their goalkeeper, this had the desired effect for Shercock as they never allowed the new keeper be tested.

A Cathal Reilly free started the scoring for Shercock. From the resultant kick out, Francis Mc Phillips had the ball very quickly in the back of the Ramor net.Two points; from Francis Mc Phillips and Ciaran Lennon in quick succession had Shercock firmly in control of the game at this stage. Two Cathal Reilly frees for Shercock followed and Ramor replied with a Stephen Monaghan free. Andrew Sloane went on a long run from his corner back position to score a fine point for his Shercock side. Jody Clarke added another. From the kick out, Ramors Shane O’Reilly received the ball, took on the defence and scored a fine point to ease Ramors nerves. The game finished with a Jody Clarke point for Shercock, much to the relief of the Virginia men! Final score; Ramor 3-10, Shercock; 1-11.
