Ramor V Crosserlough. Ramor United -
0-13 It was an eagerly anticipated clash between the fancied Crosserlough side and a very young Ramor Utd. side. Virginia was the venue on Wednesday evening last in fairly wet conditions after a day of continuous rain. A large crowd watched as Barry Mc Kiernan opened the scoring two minutes into the game with a fine point for the visitors. Ramor replied moments later with a point from Stefan Connolly. The stage was set for a close encounter and the pace was fast as both teams notched up another point each in the 7th and 9th minutes from Ado Cole and a Barry Mc Kiernan free, scored from 40 metres. Ramor had a their third wide of the half, before Mark Hetherton fisted a point after a nice move involving James Mc Enroe and Ado Cole. Possession was 50/50 at this stage of the game. Ramors Paul Quealy pointed from play, and moments later Mark Hetherton had a sure goal, but for the quick thinking of Keeper Mark Galligan who deflected the ball over the bar for a point. Ramor piled on the pressure, but squandered a number of chances, putting the ball wide and allowing passes to be intercepted by their opponents. Barry Mc Kiernan was on song in the 22nd minute with another good point from play. Ramor upped the ante following this score and the result was a fine Ado Cole point to put three between the sides. Crosserloughs James Mc Evoy put his name on the scoresheet with a fine point, but Ramor were not yet finished. Ado Cole, after a fine run, put Paul Quealy through for a point . Mark Hetherton pointed a free for a foul on James Mc Enroe. Half-time score; Ramor 0-8, Crosserlough 0-4.
Crosserlough started the second half with Paul Mc Evoy coming on for Leonard Lynch. Ramor had an excellent chance for a goal in the 4th minute with an accurate pass from Paul Quealy to James Mc Enroe, but it went narrowly wide. Crosserlough also missed a goal chance , but Jonathan Clarke was out of luck. It was 9 minutes into the half when Tomas Mc Evoy converted a 45 to put three between the sides. At this stage of the game Crosserlough were dominating, and were starving the Ramor forwards. Ramor finally notched a score in the 14th minute when Shane OReilly pointed after a good pass from Ado Cole. Marksman Paul Quealy scored his third point of the evening two minutes later. It was Crosserloughs turn to score and Dominic Mc Cabe pointed after receiving a good pass from a free .This was to be their last score of the game. Ramor made a number of positional changes, with Stefan Connolly going in as full back and Stephen Sheridan coming out the field. James Mc Enroe attempted a 45 and Vincent Mc Cabe was on hand to slot the ball over the bar after it rebounded. Stephen Monaghan fielded a very high ball, laid it off to Ado Cole, who passed it on to Paul Quealy who was subsequently fouled. Monaghan had no problem converting the free to put six between the teams. The last score of the game came from the left boot of Paul Quealy, giving Ramor a quarter-final position, and knocking Crosserlough out of the Championship. All in all, a very entertaining game with some fine individual performances and excellent scoring.
