Division 2 Ramor United v Lavey 2-7-2006

Near neighbours Lavey came to Ramor Park on Sunday last for the division 2 and 2A league games with Ramor United played in ideal conditions.

The senior game started fast and furious with both sides showing great determination to gain the extra points as the league campaign draws to an end. It was Ramor who went into an early lead with points from Stephen Monaghan Adrian Cole and Peter Monaghan. Lavey at the other end were unable to get scores as the Ramor backs blocked all attempts and Ramor tapped over two more points one from Anton O'Reilly and one from Mikie Keating. It was 20 minutes into the game before Laveys
Sean Maguire got their first point and they were back in the game again a few minutes later when Seamus Donoghue shook the Ramor net for a great goal. Ramors No 5 Daragh Sheridan had a long range point for Ramor and on the stroke of half time another point from the in form Peter Monaghan left the half time score Ramor 0-7 Lavey 1-1.

The second half saw Lavey get down to business and with points from Mark Brady Finbarr Jordan and Paul Brady the sides were level and a mighty game was emerging. Lavey took control with a point from play by Kevin Brady. Both teams exchanged points which kept the spectators on their toes and it wasn't until the last ten minutes that a string of points from no less than five different players from Ramor - Peter Monaghan 2, Shane Gaffney 1, half back Barry Fitzsimons 1, Aoghan Cahill 1 and Anton O'Reilly 1, this gave Ramor the lead which they held until the finish. Ramor brought on Brian Brady for Ogie Farrelly and Aoghan Cahill for Adrian Cole.

Lavey tried hard to get a last minute goal but the Ramor full back line of Emmet Daly, Philip Kermath and Philip Fitzsimons held out and with a great save from goalie
Alan Farrelly gave Ramor the spoils. Mikie Keating came off with a shoulder injury near the end and was replaced by Adrian Cole.

Final Score Ramor United 0-15 Lavey 1-10.
